We entered the old museum on Tahrir at 07:48. Adel had refused a scavenger sheet the night before. We walked past the famous hall without stopping and sat in a side room under a painted ceiling of stars until 10:15 — the pattern, the later pointing visible in the cuts, the way pigment still held. Out at 10:28. We skipped the upper floor. We skipped Old Cairo. Coffee was on Qasr El Nil, not on the plaza. The strike was the ceiling. Posing on the salmon stone before you enter spends the first hour outside.
