Official visitor notes win. Shoes, water, slack. CHALK does not hold the QR.
Giza’s new house sells walking. Treat the named hour as the whole morning. The sand beside it will try to spend whatever is left. July steals by glare and kilometres. Unless you have a driver, a dawn, and leftover legs, file this campus alone.
Read the campus’s own notes. Shoes for long floors. Water for the outdoor stretch. Cooler inside; the approach is still weather. Large bags become delay. Miss the named hour and the house applies its own rule. Qasr El Nil does not plead.

Reading the slab, 18 July 2026
We arrived at 09:10 on a week that still had a little air. Adel walked the grand floors as a mason checks a slab — counted expansion joints, sat where the joint ran true, did not start a hunt. Salma timed how long a notebook line stayed readable in the atrium glare: not long. We stayed with one axis of sculpture until 12:55. We refused the boats. We refused a “quick look at the sand.” The strike had been the slab and the axis. The plateau stayed a silhouette, which is glass, not a visit.
This campus sells metres of walking. The atrium is the first course, not a lobby to recover in. July light on the approach is built into the named hour. Miss that hour and the house applies its own rule — Qasr El Nil cannot plead. Visitor notes live at grandegyptianmuseum.org. The ministry board is egymonuments.gov.eg.
Philae is an island job. You do not add it from a Giza slab.
Windows facing sand
This is a long slab. You do not add a second building because the first one has windows facing sand. July: this campus alone. Cooler air: a ruthless half only if legs remain. Leave with a colour you can still name, not a shop bag. A hotel envelope is paper only when the campus itself printed the channel. Hunger rewrites cards; eat before it does. Distance is the plot if someone cannot walk. We keep no QR on Qasr El Nil. If the campus is not running a clock that week, walk up, and confirm on the campus page, not on a blog from 2024. Ranking this building against Tahrir is magazine sport. Sunset on the plateau after this is another clock in July.
Snap once, then wait for the bed to take. The house’s own board still names the hour. This desk will not raise a second storey on a morning already laid.
From the string
If I can see the pyramids, have I visited them?
No. Glass is not a paid morning on the sand.
We skipped breakfast.
Name food before hunger starts rewriting the card.
Will this desk keep a timed code?
No. We keep no inventory.
Why start by counting joints?
The advertised face gathers a crowd. A finished stretch is often the unfashionable angle.
The campus was not running a clock that week.
Then it is a walk-up week. Confirm on the campus page. Do not invent last year’s hour.
